About Me

I Know What It Feels Like to Struggle With English.

Hi, I'm Surendra Singh, the person behind It's Time to Speak.

I grew up in a small village in Uttarakhand and studied in a government school until Class 12.

For most of my school life, Hindi and Kumaoni were the languages I used every day.

English was something I studied.

It wasn't something I used.

Then I went to college at Amrapali Institute in Haldwani.

And suddenly, everything around me was in English.

My books were in English. People around me were speaking English.

Even simple things that I had never thought about before suddenly became difficult.

I struggled to understand my studies properly, and English became one of the reasons I couldn't perform the way I wanted to in college.

English isn't just a language. It's a skill that can open doors to opportunities.

So I Decided to Learn It Myself.

I didn't come from a background where I had access to expensive English coaching or an English-speaking environment.

01
So I started learning on my own. I listened to English through my earphones and bought books based on my interests.
02
I remember reading Rapidex English Speaking Course and many other books and courses while trying to understand how English actually worked.
03
I spent hours listening, reading, speaking and practising. I also used platforms like Free4Talk and other conversation platforms to speak with people from different backgrounds.
04
Sometimes I would spend hours simply having conversations in English. Slowly, English stopped feeling like something I was studying. It became something I was using.

Then I Started Teaching.

Over the last 6 years, I've worked with different kinds of learners. I've taught both offline and online.

College students
Working professionals
Homemakers
Adult learners
Beginners
Learners who were starting with very little English

And over time, I noticed something interesting.

Many people don't have an English knowledge problem. They have an English practice problem.

They may know words. They may understand sentences. They may have studied grammar.

But they haven't had enough opportunities to actually speak.

That's one of the biggest reasons I built It's Time to Speak.

My Way of Learning English

I believe we learn a language by being around it. Think about how you learned your mother tongue.

You didn't sit down and memorise hundreds of grammar rules before speaking Hindi.

You listened to your parents. You watched what people around you were doing. You heard conversations. You copied words. You tried to speak. You made mistakes. And you kept using the language.

I believe English can be approached in a similar way.

01See it
02Listen to it
03Read it
04Write it
05Speak it

That's why I encourage learners to:

Listen to English songs and podcasts
Watch useful English content
Read books based on their interests
Write regularly
Speak as much as possible
Talk about different topics and situations

The goal isn't to become some kind of “English expert.”

The goal is to express yourself clearly and comfortably.

For many people, that's more than enough.

Why I Started It's Time to Speak

I've been where many of my learners are today. I know how frustrating it can feel to enter an English-speaking environment and suddenly feel like everyone else knows something you don't.

Why I Started It’s Time to Speak

I also know that there are many people from small towns, Hindi-medium schools and ordinary backgrounds who face the same problem.

I don't want someone else to lose opportunities simply because they didn't get enough exposure to English early in life.

Practise English Without Feeling Embarrassed

That's why I wanted to create a place where people can practise English without feeling embarrassed about making mistakes.

A place where learning English doesn't always feel like studying. Sometimes it can simply feel like talking, playing, practising and having fun.

And yes, this is also my career. I want to build a sustainable business where my students benefit and I benefit too. I don't think those two things have to be separate.

What My Teaching Looks Like

I don't promise:

“Become fluent in 30 days.”

I don't believe in that. Everyone starts from a different place.

Instead, I want learners to become comfortable enough to:

Speak→Express→Make mistakes→Try again→Keep the conversation going
Sometimes we use topics.
Sometimes situations.
Sometimes games.
Sometimes simple conversations.

The idea is to make you use English so regularly that, over time, speaking starts feeling less like a task and more like something natural.

You shouldn't feel like you're struggling through English class.

You should feel like you're enjoying the process of learning to speak.

My Promise Is Simple

I won't promise you perfect English in a fixed number of days.

What I can promise is that I'll focus on something practical:

Helping you become more comfortable using English.

Because you don't need perfect English to open a conversation.

You just need to be willing to start speaking.

It's Time to Speak.

If you've been waiting for your English to become “good enough” before speaking...

Maybe it's time to reverse that.

Speak first. Improve as you go.
